Meet Nola.
Grub. Jazz. Southern hospitality. A few of my favorite things about Nola! Check out highlights from an extended weekend of belated birthday festivities last year (I'm already salivating.):
A literally killer start with Killer PoBoys (hands down to the pork belly).
Strolls of galleries, balconies, and the Before I Die wall on 925 Camp Street (though not the original, the first that Candy Chang created in Nola inspired over 2,000 more to be created in over 70 countries).
Cafe Beignet > Cafe du Monde (though of course we still went to both because, delicious).
Live music and the bars on bars at Frenchmen Street and Bourbon Street - the places to be on a night(s) out.
Jackson Square and the surrounding artists.
Take a streetcar to see more of the city. We ended up at the historic Lafayette Cemetery.
And other not so well documented favorites worth mentioning...
More grub:
Palace Cafe - a classic in the French Quarter. Can I have another bananas foster please?
Acme Oysters - well, delicious oysters of course, and more Nola faves.
Pat O'Briens - home of the hurricane and so many more cocktails, etc. to choose from.
More do:
Tastebud tour - the stories, the spirit (loved our guide Richard!), and of course the food (with places like The Old Coffeepot Restaurant and Lauras Candies ). We, and our bellies, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Clue Carré - their first live escape game (pretty into these and this was a good one).
Stay:
Le Pavillon Hotel - a historic hotel at the center of it all. Plus, PB&J served every evening. Have you heard why? It's the sweetest tradition.
And a shout out to my loves for joining and helping to plan the trip!
Gumbo or jambalaya faves? Other Nola musts of your own? Comment below - we've only scratched the surface and would love to grub and adventure through your list on my next trip over!
